HMV

This evening we walked to 'Something Sweet' for some ice cream before going to Giant to pick up milk, cereal and eggs. Parked on the road we saw a Morris Minor that belongs to Historic Motor Vehicles. It's always fun to see old cars parked on the road. The car was blue with wooden paneling. It had a car seat at the back and a dog in the hatch trunk!! :) It's nice to see such a vintage car being used as a normal day to day car. Almost everyone passing by stopped to pay closer attention and examine the car. Kids were having a field day with the dog, who was really well behaved. He has only standing room space in the tiny car.

I am attaching photos I found through google that look very much like the car we saw.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time

I just absolutely LOVE this book. I can't even begin to express how much I do. I definitely didn't expect to enjoy it this much. I think it might be safe to say I have never LOVED a book this much before.

To the Fair...or not!

Today a second attempt was made to visit the fair. Last Friday's plans were cancelled due to unexpected guests (Aunty Haseena, Alafiya and Waseem). Which was all well and good since I benefited with gifts plus the 'demolition derby' (old beat up cars playing bumper cars) was this Friday. I am sure that sounds and seems a LOT more fun than a 'tractor pull' (tractors trying to pull weight, and each time additional weight being added) which was last Friday.

This Friday brought with it my new hair cut and and short bouts of rain. As demolition derby and unhealthy treats time approached the rain seemed to have moved away, the weather channel said so too! All set for destruction and tummy treats we left to meet friends at the Shady grove metro. However, a phone call warned us of incredible rains and clouds. As the train pulled into the twinbrook station the sky was half blue and half thunderous black. The thickness of the clouds bode bad news. We got off at the shady grove metro and were welcomed with a sheet of rain. The 30 second walk to my friend's car was rather wet, to say the least. Of course, the landing in a puddle of water couldn't really have made the situation any worse.

Plans needed to be changed! Dinner at Mama Lucias ensued. No complains there! There was ample delicious bread and olive oil :D Followed by a single pizza slice :) It went on to be a fun evening, just not as slam-crash-crunch as I'd imagined.

Chillin'

So fast?

He has grown up, apparently. But in my head he is still little. How he grew up so fast? If this is how I feel about him, how am I going to feel when I have my own kids?
I would like age reversal to be implemented immediately, thank you.

Don't likes

I am not what you would call a McDonald's fan. I am also not someone who eats there anymore. However, I have to admit that they seem to have a brilliant advertising/marketing team, in the US and at home. So it was extremely disappointing when I came across this ad on a metro bus this morning. The poster displayed a photo of a burger with the following caption; "Nice to meat you". The ad really turned me off. I am not entirely sure why. But I found it extremely repulsive.

The above incident reminded me of a couple of recent conversations I had with friends. They were about how I extremely dislike the word 'bum'. I don't know why this is so. I have no issues with ass, buttocks etc. But, bum, I do not like. I also do not like the word 'dick'. But its usage as a name in an Enid Blyton book makes no difference to me. I don't understand this bias I have.

Any idea?
