Firehouse Restaurant

On another scenic drive with Houda and Adnan, we stopped for lunch at a Greek restaurant, Firehouse Restaurant, that Houda found on yelp. It was a little place with not much around it. The food, however, was realllly good. I got the Lamb Kleptiko (Australian lamb shank slow roasted overnight with house blended spices). It came with a salad that was very well dressed.

Max's Mexican Cuisine

On our way back from our drive in Azusa, we stopped at Max's Mexican Cuisine. It was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had! I ordered a fish taco and the Carne De Res Con Salsa De Tomatillo (Chopped steak with green sauce). Both were incredibly delicious. For dessert, the three of us shared the fried ice cream (they were out of flan, which is what we really wanted. Boo!), which was huge!!! I don't think we finished it. This restaurant also had some of the best service I've ever experienced.

After the DNA workshop at the CAC conference, I went with Houda and Adnan for a scenic drive near Azusa. It was a gorgeous drive through the mountains along a river.  We stopped at the Morris Reservoir and the San Gabriel Dam. The sight of the water was so incredibly serene! Gorgeous!

Sperm Derby!!!!!

You just gotta love forensic scientists for our awesome nerdyness! The DNA workshop at the CAC conference had a sperm derby. We were given wind up sperm toys and craft material to decorate them as we pleased! :D Mine was called Colourful Crusader. She won the first heats, but lost the second :(

The first night in Long Beach, we went for dinner to The Reef, while the meal wasn't really anything to write home about (though I got a Kobe burger) the Wild Berry Mojito (Myers's(sic) Platinum White Rum, Chambord, Organic Agave Nectar, club soda, mint and fresh seasonal berries) I got was delicious. I lovedddd the fresh berries in it!

Smita and I met this evening for a spot of bachelorette party shopping. While looking for which metro Party City was closest to, Smita stumbled upon Mosaic. When we met at the metro, she hopefully asked how hungry I was. Not being very hungry, I said so. She, on the other hand, was starving. She went on to mention that she had found a place called Mosaic that sold sandwiches made with waffles. The first mention of waffles and I was sold!!!

After shopping, we headed over to Mosaic. After looking through the delectable menu we both settled on the sirloin burger, medium-rare with sweet potato and russet potato fries, served with waffle. To drink, Smita got milk with chocolate and mint and I, the lemonade. Both were quite nice. As for the burger, it was deliciousss. Waffle sandwiches - such a great idea :) Our waiter, a Morroccan, seemed quite excited about us being Indians. Though, I think it had more to do with the fact that we came from the same country as Shah Rukh Khan. His favourite movie was DDLJ, despite the fact that he couldn't remember its name but did remember kuch kuch hota hain and mohabbattein. Smita, remember to watch Mohabbattein ;). I asked him to recommend a good Morroccan restaurant in DC, he suggested Casablanca. I definitely want to try it out. I forgot ask him, though, what dishes he recommends. Damn!!!

If near the twinbrook metro, do drop in at Mosaic. I doubt you will be disappointed

Osama Bin Laden is Dead!

He has been killed in his mansion in Abottabad, Pakistan close to Islamabad. He was killed by a US drone attack. Pretty intense and crazy news!!!
