Shopping for Christmas Dinner

Saurabh will cook his famous Buttered Scallops and Peas Risotto. We picked up the scallops at Newman's Fish Market on Willamette. We heard they are really good, and apparently better than Fisherman's Market that we usually go to. However, Fisherman's Market seems to have more local fish, and at Newman's more seemed from further away and less local. We didn't pick up shrimp from Newman's for precisely that reason, it was from Mexico. 

Anyway, this post is mostly because I loved the little scene that was set up at Newman's and took photo, and needed a place to post it. :)

Crafty Bastards - Day 2

I went with Smita today for Crafty Bastards. I bought the jungle book coasters and a tiger night light for Aiden :) from the same stall. The coasters are made from actual pages of books. :)

Union Market in DC

I didn't really know about this place until we went to Crafty Bastards. It reminded me of a smaller version of Eataly in NYC. I would like to go back there again and buy some meats and things. We didn't buy anything today since Saurabh is out all of next week for his conference and staff retreat.

After lunch at Malgudi with Chris and Louise we headed to Union Market for the Crafty Bastards annual craft fair. I have wanted to go to this for years but we have never ended up going. The stuff was very interesting and really unique. Definitely not items we have seen elsewhere.

Last year, like an idiot, I never went to this farmer's market that is RIGHT OUTSIDE work. This year, I am absolutely enjoying it and loving all these new berries I can try! :)
