I met Soumita today for drinks. It's been 10 years since Xavier's and so 10 years since I have seen her. We weren't really close or even friends back then. But it is always so wonderful to meet someone from Xavier's irrespective of how well you did or didn't know them back then. Social networking is awesome! :)

Exploring Georgetown Waterfront Park with Sonali
After a late start to the day, museums was not something we could have realistically done. We shopped a bit in Georgetown, I took her to LOFT. And then we went to the Georgetown Waterfront Park, walked and then sat on the stairs by the river watching the ducks and talking :)
Brunch at Cactus Cantina
We took Sonali to Cactus Cantina for brunch. She wanted "mexican" food. I forgot the surprise of people first coming to America at portion sizes. She HAD to take this photo. She couldn't believe how much food it was!

My Favourite Chapel in the National Cathedral
The National Cathedral has many chapels in it. My favourite one is the The Chapel of the Good Shepherd. It is the tiniest chapel in the cathedral and you would easily miss it if you didn't go through this random arch. It seats about 5 people comfortably.
AAFS in DC
I didn't take any photos, so this will have to suffice
This week was at AAFS annual meeting and it was in DC at the Marriot Wardman Park in Woodley Park. It was the perfect location! :) On Tuesday I met up with Kristina, Alex, Alice, Irene, Chelsea, Angela (who is now at GeneDX), and Rebecca Eggebeen (who is now at Cancer Research Institute). We went to dinner at Capitol City Brewing Company. It was wonderful to catch up on AFDIL gossip and with KZH :)
On Thursday, I went to the Marriot and ran into a bunch of people I know. This is the reason I love going to AAFS. So many people go to it, it's great place to reconnect. I met Los, Tim, Michelle, Carey, and Fasano as I was walking up the hill to get to the hotel. At the hotel, I ran into Susan Belote, Jenn Goss, Kapeller, Jennie O' Callaghan and Miranda. Later, I ran into Tanhee while waiting for Barry.
Barry and I caught up for about 45 minutes. It is always wonderful to see him and he is always SO WARM! After meeting Barry, I went up to KZH's room and hung out with her until Colleen and Amber were ready for dinner.
I met up with them at the Captiol model in the lobby and met up with Christina Neal, Suni and Mike Coble at that time too. Christina Lindquist saw me and stopped to talk for a bit.
It was excellent seeing so many people. I miss it and forensic conferences.
Amber, Colleen and I went to dinner to Afghan Grill (they were out of lamb chops and bread, as usual! >.<), but the meal was delicious and catching up was fun! :)

My Kind of Office!
I think mom dad got this for me when they went to Finland. :D And in the spirit of decluttering, a photo of this bag will suffice instead of holding onto it and looking at it close to never.
Wicked Waffle
Smita bought a groupon for Wicked Waffle, but couldn't go, so she gave it to us. We weren't able to actually go and eat there, so I picked it up and brought it home. Saurabh got the Prosciutto di Parma, Mozzarella & Arugula Waffle Sandwich (balsamic and a drizzle of e.v.o.o. dressing, lettuce, tomatoes) and the Pureed Wild Mushroom & Fresh Herbs Soup (shiitake and forest mushrooms simmered with herbs and puréed). I got the Savory Nova Waffle Sandwich (smoked salmon, onions, capers, cream cheese, lettuce, tomatoes) and the Tomato Pesto and Coriander Potage (silky and fragrant with a swirl of jade sauce). Bringing the sandwiches home, made the waffles soft, though the started out crispy. Despite that, they were excellent!! I loved my sandwich and Saurabh enjoyed his, as with the soup. I didn't like Saurabh's soup too much, it was too mushroomy for me...if that makes sense.
I definitely want to go back and actually eat at the place. Anddd...the place has GIANT nutella tubs that actually have nutella in them! mmmmm
The delicious soups and sandwiches!
Giant Nutella Tubs...
...filled with Nutella!!!

Paul
I have been meaning to try the cake from Paul's bakery for a while now. We were hungry this evening as we walked to Patagonia, so we decided to go to Paul's for a sandwich. While picking the sandwich, I noticed the soft chocolate cake and it looked just like the cake I have been craving for a realllllllly reallllllly long time now. So we got a tomato, mozzarella sandwich and a slice of this cake. Both excellent! Especially the cake! It was exactly what I had been craving! :)
Pink!
We were walking to Georgetown from foggy bottom at about 6PM this evening, when this pretty sky graced us.
Even the footpath was pink!

18 Years...
Pinky was in town, visiting Sonu. We met for dinner today at Dukem, after 18 years. It is a lifetime! The internet is amazing! To meet as adults, when the last meeting was that of play time as children is amazing! :) I don't know when I will see her again...but it was wonderful to reminisce and see her after all these years.
Thank you internet!
