Hamlet

This is the third Shakespeare play I have gone for (Othello and Macbeth before this). However, this was the first one I have watched by the Shakespeare Theatre. It was excellent. The play was at the Folger Theatre. The theatre is beautiful, inside and out :) Very old-ish and is small.

The performance, yesterday, was really good. I have to admit that there were times when I couldn't really follow what they were saying. But I got the general story. It was very gripping and it helped not knowing the story from before. I definitely think this is something I would like to do again.

It's been at the bus stop near work for at least 2 weeks now. Why it won't be cleared, I do not know.

WHAT A MOVIE!!!!

It follows 4 babies from Namibia (Ponijao), Japan (Mari), Mongolia (Bayar) and America (Hattie) from when they are born until they take their first steps. There is no narration nor a story line. The camera just follows the 4 babies through this period. That's it. Nothing more. All you watch through the one hour fifteen minutes are shots of the babies, as they grow in different environments and different cultures. You do notice that despite completely contrasting circumstances surrounding the babies, there is a common baby connection that connects them Anyway, the movie is adorable. The babies do just the darndest things! (they were too young to say them) Everyone MUST watch this movie. Come on, just look at the photo! Can you really say no?

A Silent Day

It has been a rather silent day today at work. Not too much conversation in the office. When I went to where the labs are, too, no one is really about. It's generally quite quiet. It's not even a Friday before a long weekend. It's strange how sometimes your surroundings reflect your mood.

It's been a year all ready?

Last year, on May 7th, I came back to my desk at work after having been in the lab for an hour or two. I checked my email and there were a few new emails. One of them was a facebook message from Uncle David. I was excited to see it, and left it to read last. I always leave the emails I think I'm going to like for the end.

As it turned out, it was the worst email I'd ever gotten. Uncle had written to tell me that Aunty had lost her battle with cancer and passed away the previous day. :( The shock that that email brought was compounded by the fact that I had no idea aunty was even battling cancer anymore. I thought she had ridden it out and was fine. I had met her a few months before and there was nothing to show that she was sick again.

Now, it's a year since she has passed on to a calmer and hopefully worry-free place. I didn't think that today would bring with it any exceptional sadness. But, it has. This sadness is a strange feeling. I don't quite know what sets me off, but suddenly I get very sad. It isn't that I think about her, miss her and then get consumed by the sadness. I cannot put my finger on what pushes me over, but something does. It's a kind of sadness I have never experienced before.

I miss her. Even though I didn't really talk to her much after they left DC, I still miss her. I know she has gone, but everytime I see a photo of hers it's difficult to understand her being gone. If that makes any sense.

She was by far one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. Always, almost everyday, there is something that reminds me of one of the things she's told me. I am just so so grateful for having met and known her.

I love you, I miss you aunty.

No Pen Clicking Zone

Hehe...I made this one day at work when boss man was in the office clicking his pen away to glory and Rachel was going INSANE (she told us later).

Yoga

I went for my first yoga class today. Well, technically I have done yoga before. But, today's was definitely the first proper yoga class I have gone for. It was really good, and I like the instructor a lot. I think that is important since breathing and position is so important in yoga. I don't know how regular I am going to be with yoga with all the other classes I am doing, but I hope to go as regularly as I can.

Some Dim Sum!

I LOVE IT!!! Absolutely LOVE IT! But, I think I LOVE it at Oriental East, more than just loving any dim sum anywhere. I do not know what they do, but they make it ABSOLUTELY delicious!

I was first introduced to Oriental East when Saurabh went there through work for Chinese New Year in 2008. He brought back some shrimp in rice noodle dim sum back and I fell in LOVE!!! We finally went there, I tried more dim sums and my love grew. I cannot get enough of it. I have no idea what magic taste ingredient they put in it...but YUMMMY! :D

I am willing to try it at other places :) Oriental East however has set the bar pretty high.
