Adventure At The Bottom Of The World
Saurabh and I went to the NG museum for a talk by Christian Eide on his experiences while skiing to the south pole in a record breaking 24 days 1 hour and 13 minutes. Christian is from Norway. He was funny and entertaining as he spoke about his inspirations to take on this endeavour and his experiences through it. He brought a lot of the equipment he used and wore during the trip to the talk for us to see. This included his skis, tent (that he was take down in ~30 seconds!!!!), pulk, shoes (and he showed us photos of how he fixed it when they came apart), sweater, sleeping bag (that was stored open, so he didnt have to roll it open and close each night) and other warm gear
At the South Pole
As usual, it was an excellent event and for the first time I asked a question in the Q&A session. I asked about power to charge his GPS, PDA etc when he was there. He had carried a lot of batteries, but also carried a solar panel. I thought that was interesting.

Free Snacks with Alcohol
I didn't drink in Bombay, so when others around me did, I enjoyed the free snacks they gave, but felt bad stealing their quota. So, when I moved to the US and started drinking, I figured I would now have my fair share of free snacks! But, as it turned out, they don't give you snacks here with your alcohol...booo!
But, at the Taj in Boston, they do!! And it's quite yum too! :D

Pretty Yellow Flowers on the way to Big Bear
The journey to Big Bear for the Family Reunion-3 was pretty. These yellow flowers were all over the mountains! :)

Terra Blue Chips
JetBlue is definitely one of my favourite airlines in the US. It amuses me that one of the snacks they serve is "blue" chips. They are made from potatoes that are naturally blue. The first time I heard about these chips were when my folks flew JetBlue in 2006 from New York to Orlando. Mom was also quite fascinated by them, because she didn't finish her bag of chips so she could save some for me to see and try :) shucksss! Moms!!!!

Hazelnut Espresso Cookie
Fancy Cakes By Leslie, in downtown Bethesda has some delicious cookies and cupcakes. I usually get one of the cookies they have baked. Today, we got the Hazelnut Espresso Cookie that was positivelyyyyyy DIVINE. I think the only complaint I have about it is that they don't have a fixed menu, so I have NO idea when I can get this cookie next. It makes me VERY sad.

Salmon Green Apple Carpaccio at Raku
I was a moron and I forgot to write down the description (or the correct name) of this starter. It is on the specials menu, so I can't find the description online either. But, if you go to Raku and see this on the menu, GET IT! It was FANTASTIC! Smita and I were trying to eat the sauce with chopsticks!!!!!!!! once we were done with the carpaccio. The dish has, sweet, spicy, savoury and perhaps umami flavour as well! A beautiful blend and explosion for taste in your mouth!
