U.S. website The Onion has named North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un as the "Sexiest Man Alive for the year 2012".

"With his devastatingly handsome, round face, his boyish charm, and his strong, sturdy frame, this Pyongyang-bred heartthrob is every woman's dream come true. Blessed with an air of power that masks an unmistakable cute, cuddly side, Kim made this newspaper's editorial board swoon with his impeccable fashion sense, chic short hairstyle, and, of course, that famous smile," it said.

"He has that rare ability to somehow be completely adorable and completely macho at the same time," said Marissa Blake-Zweiber, editor of The Onion Style and Entertainment.

Super Moon

The moon was closest it has been in the last 18 years to earth. I unfortunately missed the rise :(, but when I saw it later it was definitely brighter than I've seen it before.
The rising super moon looks quite extraordinary. I really really wish I had seen it. Siiiiigh

This is how I saw the super moon, over the National Cathedral though. However, my photographic attempts failed quite miserably. I guess that's why we have google. :)

The notice adds that the management, staff and students of the college read with consertation Mumbai Mirror's October 2 report on the emergency withdrawal of Rohinton's book by the university.

IT'S A BIRD!!!!!

No...It's MANY BIRDS!!!!!!!!!

Knots (type of bird) formed the shape of a bird as the took to the air last week at the RSPB's Snettisham Nature Reserve, in Snettisham, UK. The reserve lies on the edge of "The Wash" one of the most important bird sanctuaies in the UK supporting over 300,000 birds.

This just warms my heart and makes me so so happy.

A breeding tiger pair was found in the Himalayas in Bhutan above the tree line. It wasn't ever expected to see tigers live at these altitudes. This opens up new possibilities for Tiger conservation. Way to go BBC Natural History Crew!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

Ever Thought You Were in a Jam?

A traffic jam on the Beijing-Tibet highway enters its 9th day! Officials say it will go on for another month before the bottleneck clears up! Really! I am not making this up! See! And, according to the article the commuters are cracking jokes. Gotta hand it to the temperament of these guys! I would sure as hell go crazy! I can't help but wonder how the relieve themselves...food and water has been provided for by the impromptu stalls that have set up. I guess port-a-potties!

Witnessing News! :)

At the Paul McCartney concert we went to last Saturday, he had this girl come up on stage who wanted him to autograph her back so she could get it tattooed. She said her name was Morta (or something like that). This morning in the eye opener section of the express I read about it! It was kinda cool reading something in that section that I had seen happen! :)

ps: it appears that the newspaper changed her name

RIP Mr Joe (or Mr Theo Albrecht)!!

Mr Albrecht passed away on July 24th, 2010. He was a German businessman who brought the Trader Joe's grocery chain to the United States. He and his brother, Karl, made their fortune after taking over their parents' grocery store. They turned it into the international Aldi chain.

I am very excited about the Indian Rupee symbol. I reallllly like it. It looks pretty darn cool! And it was about time, I say! :)

The distillery in Wasilla, Alaska is now producing smoked salmon flavoured vodka. EWE! You couldn't pay me to drink that! Hmmm...but maybe it would make a good marinade?

Psychic Paul

Paul the octopus at the Oberhausen Sea Life Aquarium in Germany has some pretty incredible psychic powers. Not only has it predicted 80% of Germany's results in Euro 2008, he has got all its predictions right at this world cup! He picks a mussel from a jar that bears a flag - either of Germany or of the country Germany's upcoming match is againt. The country represented in the jar he picked has been winning the matches.

LONGEST TENNIS MATCH EVER!

The day ended with the 5th set at 59-59, but I couldn't find a photo showing that :(

Today while in an email conversation with Noella she asked me if I was watching the Isner-Mahut match which was in the 5th set tie break at 46-47. I thought it was a typo and opened slam tracker to check. There was no typo there. I, then, started following the match forgetting all about the the world cup (that I was following earlier). Isner and Mahut had resumed their match today, from yesterday, to play the 5th set after being at 2 sets all. This turned out the be the longest match in tennis history and the day ended without a result. The 5th set in itself is longer than any tennis match ever played (6 hours and 35 minutes)The match will resume tomorrow. It is currently poised at a 5th set tie break at 59-59!!!!! After 10 hours of play time. It is insane. I was getting updates about what was going on in the match from Naj. Isner was winning on aces. He was too tired to bend to hit any of his shots. At one point, he tried to eat a banana, but decided against it because it was too much effort to peel it. Mahut on the other hand did not seem very tired and was jumping about, perhaps, more to rub it into Isner!

At 59-59 Mahut was having difficulties seeing the ball because of low light and asked for play to be suspended for the day. Isner wanted to continue playing. The match was called off and Isner wasn't happy. Tomorrow will be interesting, but I think it will end soon. The rest might make them sore and prevent them from bringing their A game to the court. They may not be able to serve as fantastically as they were today. Tomorrow, like today, they will resume play on Court 18.

Toe Wrestling

Apparently there is a sport called Toe Wrestling. I only learnt of it today. Ewe!! I would not ever want to participate in such a sport! *shudder*

But, they would blend into a Britney Spears video!

The Cleveland County, Oklahoma prison inmates have been given new uniforms. Apparently making them easier to spot incase they escape. Their previous orange uniforms looked too much like medical scrubs.

I think this uniform will be pretty successful. How many inmates would want to be caught dead in this outfit? I am sure they aren't going to start a life on the run wearing this! :D
