People's Daily made a Boo Boo

From People's Daily:

U.S. website The Onion has named North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un as the "Sexiest Man Alive for the year 2012".

"With his devastatingly handsome, round face, his boyish charm, and his strong, sturdy frame, this Pyongyang-bred heartthrob is every woman's dream come true. Blessed with an air of power that masks an unmistakable cute, cuddly side, Kim made this newspaper's editorial board swoon with his impeccable fashion sense, chic short hairstyle, and, of course, that famous smile," it said.

"He has that rare ability to somehow be completely adorable and completely macho at the same time," said Marissa Blake-Zweiber, editor of The Onion Style and Entertainment.

Thanksgiving Serenity

This afternoon, I stepped out for a bit. I picked up a hot chocolate and went to Kogan Plaza (my favourite spot on the GW campus) to read my book and enjoy the fabulous weather.

Kogan was so empty, it was beautifully serene. The occasional person would walk past, but the silence and stillness was incredible!

It's rare to find such silence in a city. I am glad I got to enjoy it today.

Cravings and Promises with S & S

 Enjoying R & R food

We met Smita and Shounak at the Medical Center metro to go to Madras Palace to satisfy our dosa craving. Boston had been a terrible let down for that craving, so without much expectation we went to Madras Palace. We all got the buffet, the food was delicious and hot Sada dosas were brought to the table. The perfect crispness and delicious chutneys meant weeks long cravings were satisfied! :D
Since, this blog hasn't been regularly updated, photos of the dosas never crossed my mind. Boo!

After dinner we went to Smita's place. Played some Scattergories and then headed to bed so we'd be up for the 9:10AM Skyfall IMAX show in Silver Spring. In the morning, Smita made us some delicious cold coffee and then we headed out. The movie was excellent (though getting there proved slightly challenging because of the Thanksgiving Parade). I did sell my right ear to get the tickets though. $18.50 for a matinee IMAX! What the hell happened to movie ticket prices??? I know I haven't been for a movie in a while, but has it been THAT long? :-o

As we were leaving the theatre after the movie, the parade passed by! :) The even threw stress balls at the crowds! We got one. A yellow one :)

Santa at the Thanksgiving Parade! After October 31, people can't WAIT for all things Christmas!

Then we headed to Columbia to the R & R Taqueria that S & S had been ravvvvvving about! It lived up to the hype they created and more! :) A small deli in a gas station selling Authentic Mexican food. Delicious!!! They even have fresh juices! Imagine my delight and surprise! :)

The Deli is small, with about 7-8 barstools and a counter, if you have to eat in there. It is essentially filled with people waiting in line to order or waiting to collect their food. It is best to take your food and eat in your car or somewhere around the gas station. We ate at the car :), the weather was excellent!

The kitchen at R & R Deli

We got the R&R Taco enchilados (two lamb tacos rolled in a corn tortilla, and dipped in Mexican sauce, sour cream and cheese), Mexican chorizo taco, Pollo taco and the Huarache a la Mexicana (Huaracha - handmade tortille mixed with refried beans, topped with Mexican cheese, meat, avocado, sour cream and onions. Huarache a la Mexicana - Steak mixed with onions, tomatoes, jalapenos and ranchero sauce). The tacos were okay, a little dry. But the enchilados and the Huarache....OMG! Divine!!!! I'd go back there for dinner, if I could
Fresh Strawberry Juice - ABSOLUTE DELICIOUS! Liquid Strawberry! :)

Honey Pig

From the Ramadan visit. This was the food almost finished! What a fantastic Iftaar.

The first time we went to Honey Pig was in Ramadan with Chris, Louise, Jess Trimble, Jeremy (Jess' husband) and Cassie (Jess' sister). It is a DELICIOUS Korean BBQ restaurant that is open 24 hours! We went again today after the puppy date with Chris and Louise.

The first time we went, we discovered the deliciousness of beef brisket after Chris and Louise ordered it. This time we knew we were going to get that, and we did. However, Chris and Louise got the duck and it was the best duck I've ever had!!! Next time, we have decided, our order will be beef brisket and duck! SOOOOO GOOD! The other interesting thing they do, is hot kimchi. I've never had it or heard of it anywhere else.

Doggie-Full Weekend!

Saurabh and Rupert                        Saurabh and Pickles

On Saturday we went to the Monticello Park in Alexandria to do a Doggie Photoshoot for Rupert (Stella's dog) and Bolt (Jennie's dog).

Stella picked us up and we headed to the park. Rupert sat between us in the car and was such a good little fellow. Bolt is exactly the meaning of his name! and SO skittish! haha! The weather was fabulous and it was a fun afternoon in the park. Saurabh had the time of his life!

Bolt getting to know Rupert. Dogs are weird.

After the shoot we went to Dairy Godmother in Del Ray for dessert. I got the Cranberry-Coriander-Orange sorbet. Probably one of the best sorbets I have ever had, though the coriander was unnecessary. It didn't add or take anything away. I feel it was just there to make the sorbet sound exotic. Either way, soooo delicious. (This had nothing to do with doggies, but just quite an essential part to note from the weekend)

On Sunday, we met up with Chris and Louise for a puppy date to meet they new 4 month old puppy, Pickles. He is RIDICULOUSLY attached to Chris and if I was still in Dover, I would have a puppy at home! So tiny and soooo much fun. He barked at everything, especially other dogs and kids. :) We went to the Barrel Oak Winery and met up with Samantha, Nabila (C & L's friends) and Sean (Samantha's friend) to spend the day out. Again, the weather was fabulous. The wine, not so much. But they allow dogs, so who cares about the wine?

Museum of Bad Art

The Museum of Bad Art (MOBA) is the only world's only museum dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition and celebration of bad art in all its forms.

I had read about the Museum of Bad Art a while ago and that there was branch in Brookline, MA. This trip to Boston we were able to go, so we went. It was just two walls of "bad art". It was right next to the T station but we'd never guessed it was there if I hadn't called. It was on the top floor of a school and the door was locked, accidentally. We had to be let in.

The book they sold was quite entertaining, so we bought it. It makes a fun coffee table book.

Delicious Cookie

The day after halloween, as I was walking out of the building I noticed these cookies at the front desk. I almost didn't pick one up because I thought it was pumpkin flavoured. But, I did. And HOW glad I was that I did. Absolutely delicious! I Went back and got more! :) There was chocolate in the center that just tasted splendid!!! mmmmm
