- You pile on unending layers of clothes resulting in an aching back.
- You are unable to have long conversations about nothing on the phone while you wait for your bus. Your fingers freeze over and your arm aches being held up with the weight of all those layers you have on.
- Reading while waiting for the bus, too, becomes impossible.
- Driving conditions are bad with possible ice on the roads. Pavements are slippery when ice layers them.
- Grocery shopping is even more of a chore when you have to remove your poor fingers from your toasty pockets to carry shopping bags.
- Social activities are highly inhibited and limited
- Skin becomes as dry as paper. Thank God for vaseline!
- Breeze is never appreciated in the winter. NEVER! Which is sad, because it can be quite nice at other times.
- Trees are bare, animals are hibernating, birds have gone south (or north? if they typically reside in the southern hemisphere?), humans are in different shades of black, brown and grey. Colours are amiss :(
- Days are SHORT!!! >.<
- All the weight you lost over spring, summer and fall comes back with a bang and some. siiiiiiiiigh.
Well, I guess there are a few good things that winter brings.
- The white prettyness after a snowfall.
- Federal government closings during a blizzard.
- Skiing - for those who choose to take on this scary sport.
- And every four years, the winter olympics.
ps: photo courtesy me! :) and not google.
Unless you're a graduate student then point 2 is irrelevant and so is 1 when you have to trudge out into the snow because your cells/mice/little lab rodents depend on you.
