Arefa was in DC for a few days for a conference. I met her for dinner today, while Saurabh was in class. We went to Izakaya. The food was fantastic, as was the drink, Big Kitty (red wine and scratch ginger beer)we had . It was wonderful talking, hanging out, and catching up! We were there for almost 4 hours! Two 60+ year old me were sitting at the table by us and talked to us randomly through the meal. Asked us about our dishes and we asked them about theirs.
Our favourite dish of the night was the Chawanmushi (steamed egg and dashi custard with truffled shiitake mushroom sauce and parmesan cheese). mmmmmm
