La Canela

Friends from work took me out for my Birthday lunch today. We went for Peruvian food to La Canela in Rockville Towncenter. It was a new try for all of us and I think we all left having have absolutelyyyy enjoyed the meal and wanting to go back for more.

For lunch the have a 2 course meal for $15. This is a fantastic deal!

The first served each of us a single ceviche filled in a wanton. It's on the house and it was excellent!!!! After, Vanessa, Houda, Rachel and I shared the mixed ceviche platter. It was fantastic!!! It came with roasted corn, sweet potato and mashed potato that had a little kick to it. All excellent. Jess and I shared our appetizers and entrees. We were both confused between the same 2 things for both. Worked out great! For the appetizer, we shared the Chupe (creamy shrimp soup) and the Yuca Fritas con Huancaina (Fried yuca with huancaina sauce). The Chupe was tasty but slightly fishy for me. The Yuca Fritas were delicious. For the entree, we shared the Pollo Saltado (Chicken breast tips sauteed with onions and tomato. It was served with rice & french fries) and Tallarines Verdes (Pasta with Peruvian pesto and breaded beef). Both were completely scrumptious!!

I highly recommend this restaurant!
